Genius (formerly Heartland) and Taplist.io Integration Guide

This article describes how to set up and use Taplist.io's integration with Genius (formerly Heartland POS).

Overview

Taplist.io is proud to offer a direct, fast integration to Genuis POS.

When you activate this integration, Taplist.io will automatically synchronize your Genius catalog data into an equivalent Taplist.io menu. In turn, you'll be able to:

• Build and customize TVs that automatically show realtime inventory.
• Build and customize printable versions of your menus.

Menus synchronized from Genius are read-only on Taplist.io: When you & your staff need to make menu changes, you only need to make those changes within Genius. Taplist.io will automatically refresh with those changes—typically in less than a minute.

Requirements

To use this integration, you will need:

• A Taplist.io Pro account. POS sync features are only available on Pro accounts and above.
• An active Genius account.

Setup Instructions

Here's how to activate the integration on your account.

First, you will need an API key from Genius.

1. Visit your Genius Dashboard.
2. From the sidebar, press "Integrations".
3. On the integrations page, press "New".
4. Under "Integration Type", select "API".
5. Under "Integration Partner", select "Taplist.io" and then press "Save".
6. Important: Copy the API key value. Save it somewhere temporarily.

Next, enable the integration at Taplist.io:

1. Visit Account → Integrations → POS Sync.
2. Press "Add POS Integration" and select Genius.
3. When prompted, paste your API key and press Connect.

That's it! Your product catalog should sync and you will see a new menu, "Genius Menu", in

Managing Your Integration

Forcing a sync

Taplist will automatically register with Genius and receive events any time your catalog or inventory changes. However, sometimes it can be helpful to perform a manual sync "just to be sure".

You can perform a manual sync by:

1. Visit  Account → Integrations → POS Sync.
2. Press "Force Sync Now"

Removing the integration

You can remove the integration at any time. Removing the integration will allow you to re-connect the integration later.

IMPORTANT: Removing the integration will delete Taplist's copy of your Genius menu. Since it is a read-only mirror of your Genius data, you can always re-create it later.

You can remove your integration with the following steps:

1. Visit  Account → Integrations → POS Sync.
2. Press "Remove".
3. Confirm when prompted.
